We arrived in California on July 1st, 2015. California is
home to both of us, having both been born and raised here, and there is something
in our DNA that seems to recognize and resonate with the land, the climate, the
mountains we love to ski and hike, the rivers, the lakes, the oceans, and the bike
trails. There is something to be said about feeling at home somewhere, and that
somewhere for us usually means California.
Currently we are enjoying an extended stay in the Sacramento
area, allowing us to happily reconnect with family and friends, but I've been
meaning to post an entry about the month of July which we spent in San Diego. Besides being
a beautiful place to hang out, my sister Jennifer lives in San Diego, and we always appreciate having the
chance to spend time with her. Because Jennifer has lived here for many years,
she really knows the area well, and all we have to do is ask - Where should we
hike? Where are the vegetarian restaurants? Any good bike trails? What beach do
you recommend? It's great having an expert to consult in these matters! We had
a wonderful month long visit, finding time to socialize, hike, ride our bikes,
visit the fabulous Balboa Park in downtown San Diego (including a viewing of the 7 Billion Others exhibit in the art gallery), and just hang out at the Santee
Lakes Recreation Preserve RV Park, where we enjoyed watching the hummingbirds
come to our feeder, and the water birds who made the small lakes in the park
their home. Here are some pictures from that visit.
In 2007 Dan and I retired from work, hitched our 5th wheel to our truck, and hit the road. We are full time RV'ers so we take our home with us everywhere we go. We live by the credo "Home Is Where You Park It" and we have found Home in many an awesome setting! I created this blog to track our adventures as we travel around the US, Canada, and Mexico. Two of our goals include visiting all the State Capitals and as many of the Baseball Parks as possible, with everything else we can fit in between!
