Key West Snorkel and Kayak Island Adventure

During our two day trip to Key West, we signed on for an Island Adventure excursion provided by one of the many tour companies on the island. Our small group was taken by boat through Key West’s lake passage, with stops for snorkeling, kayaking, and paddle boarding along the way.

Our captain and co-captain entertained us with local lore and made sure everyone saw the dolphins who decided to swing alongside the boat with us for a spell. We were provided plenty of refreshment, starting with pastries, juice, and fruit in the morning, buffet sandwiches and salads for lunch, and beverages including bottled water, champagne, beer, and wine, and finally homemade chocolate chip cookies for dessert.

The blue, green, and turquoise offshore waters were so beautiful, and the perfect temperature, so comfortable I could have stayed in for hours. During our snorkeling stop, I had fun swimming after schools of fish as they darted to and fro in the shallow waters of the sandbar we anchored next to. Later, our co-captain led a group of us in kayaks to a dense stand of mangroves where she pointed out various flora and fauna.

I hated for the day to be over. It was one of the most relaxed and pleasant outings I can remember being on in a long time.
